External validation of the Ramathibodi paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia recurrence score and development of a refined prediction model in a Hong Kong emergency department adult cohort: A retrospective study

open access: yesHong Kong Journal of Emergency Medicine, Volume 33, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Background Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) recurrence after adenosine treatment is common in emergency departments (EDs), but predictive tools require validation. Objectives To externally validate the Ramathibodi PSVT recurrence score in a Hong Kong ED cohort and develop a refined local model for predicting 24‐h recurrence ...

Non-valvular atrial fibrillation and stroke : implications for management [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation is more prevalent with increasing age. It is associated with a six-fold excess risk of stroke; and a cumulative lifetime stroke risk of 35%. 15% of ischaemic strokes are directly attributable to it.

Kuwait Atrial Fibrillation Management Analysis—Insights From a Tertiary Center in Kuwait

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 2, April 2026.
Among patients with non‐valvular AF, rhythm control (RC) was pursued in 28.9%. RC was pursued for younger patients and those followed in electrophysiology clinics (33% vs. 5%, p < 0.001). 11.6% of patients received an underdosed DOAC. RC was underutilized in our study, falling short of international benchmarks and guideline recommendations.

Electrocardiography in horses, part 2: how to read the equine ECG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The equine practitioner is faced with a wide variety of dysrhythmias, of which some are physiological. The recording of an exercise electrocardiogram (ECG) can help distinguish between physiological and pathological dysrhythmias, underlining the ...

Anatomical Predictors of Optimal Cryoballoon Size Selection: A Prospective Comparison of 28 mm Versus 31 mm Size‐Adjustable Balloon Modes

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 2, April 2026.
The 31 mm POLARx FIT cryoballoon achieves significantly higher complete pulmonary vein occlusion rates than the 28 mm mode, particularly in superior veins. Larger PV diameter and higher ovality index independently predict incomplete occlusion, supporting pre‐procedural CT‐based anatomical assessment for individualized balloon size selection.

Unidirectional Conduction at the Left Atrial Roof Observed in the Chronic Phase After Single‐Ring Isolation for Long‐Standing Persistent Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 2, April 2026.
Single‐ring isolation (SRI) was achieved, but residual unidirectional conduction remained along the left atrial roof. After SRI, repetitive activity from the left superior pulmonary vein (LSPV) triggered atrial fibrillation. Additional ablation at the unidirectional conduction gap site successfully achieved bidirectional conduction block.

A Nomogram utilizing ECG P-wave parameters to predict recurrence risk following catheter ablation in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Highlights Abnormal changes in P-wave parameters indicative of atrial electrical remodeling often manifest earlier than changes in other indicators reflecting atrial structural remodeling in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Preoperative absolute values of

Regional Volume of Atrial Fibrillation Catheter Ablation Is Not Associated With Increased Per Capita Medical Costs

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 2, April 2026.
This ecological study of 47 Japanese prefectures demonstrates that regional medical costs are primarily driven by aging and chronic disease rather than atrial fibrillation catheter ablation, which was found to be a cost‐neutral intervention whose initial expenses are likely offset by the long‐term prevention of costly complications.
