Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

On stochastic differential equations and a generalised Burgers equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we discuss a link of Itˆo’s stochastic differential equa- tions to nonlinear partial differential equations of Burgers type. Un- der certain conditions, we derive a generalised Burgers equation from a stochastic differential equation.

λ-Symmetry and μ-Symmetry Reductions and Invariant Solutions of Four Nonlinear Differential Equations

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
On one hand, we construct λ-symmetries and their corresponding integrating factors and invariant solutions for two kinds of ordinary differential equations.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A Procedure to Construct Exact Solutions of Nonlinear Fractional Differential Equations

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
We use the fractional transformation to convert the nonlinear partial fractional differential equations with the nonlinear ordinary differential equations.

Explicit Exact Solutions of the (2+1)-Dimensional Integro-Differential Jaulent–Miodek Evolution Equation Using the Reliable Methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2020
In this article, we utilize the G′/G2-expansion method and the Jacobi elliptic equation method to analytically solve the (2 + 1)-dimensional integro-differential Jaulent–Miodek equation for exact solutions.

Studying a Tumor Growth Partial Differential Equation via the Black–Scholes Equation

open access: yesComputation, 2020
Two equations are considered in this paper—the Black–Scholes equation and an equation that models the spatial dynamics of a brain tumor under some treatment regime. We shall call the latter equation the tumor equation.

A short overview of solitons and applications

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics, 2021
Solitons are solitary waves that maintain their shape and speed while propagating with constant velocity. They are ubiquitous in nature and have many applications in nonlinear dynamics. In this project, we give a brief historical overview of solitons. We

Finite element analysis for a coupled bulk-surface partial differential equation

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we define a new finite element method for numerically approximating the solution of a partial differential equation in a bulk region coupled with a surface partial differential equation posed on the boundary of the bulk domain.
