Fundamental investigations concerning the behaviour of partial discharges (PD) in dielectric liquids
10th International Conference on Conduction and Breakdown in Dielectric Liquids, 2002The authors report the results of fundamental investigations on the behavior of partial discharges (PDs) in insulating fluids. The shape of PD pulses is recorded with a special measuring system and the characteristics of PD pulses and their dependencies in insulating liquids are determined.

Partial discharge. IX. PD in gas-insulated substations-fundamental considerations
IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 1991For pt.VIII see ibid., vol.7, no.5, p.9 et seq. (1991). The physical aspects of partial discharge (PD) in SF/sub 6/ gas-insulated substations (GIS) are reviewed. The orientation is toward present and developing techniques for evaluating defects in solid and gaseous insulation systems on the basis of PD measurement.

Partial discharge. XI. Limitations to PD as a diagnostic for deterioration and remaining life
IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 1992For pt.X see ibid., vol.8, no.1, p.16 (1992). The correlation of partial discharge (PD) measurements with insulation degradation and failure is addressed. The limitations inherent to such diagnostics as applied to solid insulating systems are examined.

Development of a partial discharge emulator for calibration of a radiometric PD detection system
2012 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2012A purely electronic partial discharge emulator for use in a location estimation algorithm for online partial discharge detection is proposed as a low-cost approach to real-time condition monitoring, asset management and operation optimization in future smart grid. Some early progress in the development of subsystems (specifically the radiometer antenna

Interference analysis and rejection of partial discharge (PD) monitoring signal on-site
Proceedings of 2001 International Symposium on Electrical Insulating Materials (ISEIM 2001). 2001 Asian Conference on Electrical Insulating Diagnosis (ACEID 2001). 33rd Symposium on Electrical and Electronic Insulating Materials and Applications in System, 2002According to the waveform and spectrum characteristics, various interferences during on-line PD measurement could be divided into three types such as the sinusoidal continuous noises, pulse shaped interference (including the periodical and stochastical) and background noises (similar to the white noise).

Initiation and formation of partial discharges (PD) in mineral based insulating oil
Proceedings of 1993 IEEE 11th International Conference on Conduction and Breakdown in Dielectric Liquids (ICDL '93), 1994This paper reports the results of fundamental investigations concerning the behavior of partial discharges (PD) in mineral-based oil with the aim of characterizing the physical mechanisms that lead to the initiation and formation of PD pulses. First the influence of the parameters temperature, moisture, pressure and oil condition on the PD inception ...

Model for partial discharges associated with treeing breakdown: I. PDs in tree channels
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2000In order to check our physical model for partial discharges (PDs) in a tree channel, the light emission from a PD in an actual tree was observed. The experimental results agreed with the model. By using the model, conditions for the formation of typical phase-amplitude-number (-q-n) pattern of PDs from treeing was discussed.

Partial discharge. V. PD in polymer-type line insulators
IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 1991For pt.IV see ibid., vol.7, no.1, p.20 (1991). Some of the problems related to corona and partial discharge damage to polymer insulators are outlined. The basic construction of polymer insulators for overhead lines, which consist of a core, weathersheds, and metal end fittings, is described.
