In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Solutions of the system of dual matrix equation AXB=B=BXA in two partial orders
In this paper, we consider the solutions of the system of dual matrix equation AXB=B=BXA in P-star partial order and D-star partial order, respectively.

The Various Definitions of Multiple Differentiability of a Function f: ℝn→ ℝ
Since the 17-th century the concepts of differentiability and multiple differentiability have become fundamental to mathematical analysis. By now we have the generally accepted definition of what a multiply differentiable function f:Rn→R is (in this ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

On the (un)decidability of a near-unanimity term [PDF]
We investigate the near-unanimity problem: given a finite algebra, decide if it has a near-unanimity term of finite arity. We prove that it is undecidable of a finite algebra if it has a partial near-unanimity term on its underlying set excluding two ...

Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Augmentations of consistent partial orders for the one-machine total tardiness problem
A partial order on a job set is called consistent, if it has a linear extension which is an optimal solution to the total tardiness problem of the job set.
