Pseudo-prolongation of the Partial Thromboplastin Time

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1983
A patient with a negative personal and family history for bleeding was being prepared for bronchoscopy when an extremely long activated partial thromboplastin time was detected. Analyses for the contact phase factors were normal. It was determined subsequently that the prolongation was artifactual.

Prothrombin and Partial Thromboplastin Time

2016
Basic plasma coagulation function is readily assessed with a few simple in vitro laboratory tests, prothrombin time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT), and they are useful as the current standard for establishing a diagnosis of coagulopathy.

Prothrombin Time and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time

2009
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (PTT) which are two separate but related in vitro laboratory assays that are used to evaluate coagulation factors. Factors involved uniquely in the PTT are referred to as intrinsic pathway factors, whereas factors unique to the PT are referred
