Suppression of Intensity Fluctuations in Free Space High-Speed Optical Communication Based on Spectral Encoding of a Partially Coherent Beam [PDF]
A new concept of a free-space, high-speed (Gbps) optical communication system based on spectral encoding of radiation from a broadband pulsed laser is developed.

Self-steering partially coherent vector beams
We introduce a class of self-steering partially coherent vector optical beams with the aid of a generalized complex Gaussian representation. We show that such partially coherent vector beams have mobile guiding centers of their intensity and polarization state distributions on the beam free space propagation that could be employed to generate far-field

Coherent x-ray wavefront reconstruction of a partially illuminated Fresnel zone plate [PDF]
International audienceA detailed characterization of the coherent x-ray wavefront produced by a partially illuminated Fresnel zone plate is presented. We show, by numerical and experimental approaches, how the beam size and the focal depth are strongly ...

PROPAGATION OF PARTIALLY COHERENT BEAM IN TURBULENT ATMOSPHERE: A REVIEW (Invited Review)
Partially coherent beam is preferred in many applications, such as free-space optical communications, remote sensing, active laser radar systems, etc., due to its resistance to the deleterious effects of atmospheric turbulence.

Incoherent vector vortex-mode solitons in self-focusing nonlinear media
We suggest a novel type of composite spatial optical soliton created by a coherent vortex beam guiding a partially incoherent light beam in a self-focusing nonlinear medium.

Partially Coherent Vortex Beams of Arbitrary Order
We derive analytic solutions for an infinite set of partially coherent vortex beams (PCVBs) of any azimuthal order and for any propagation distance. The correlation singularities of the beams and their orbital angular momentum are investigated. This detailed study of PCVBs opens the possibility of using such beams for remote sensing and free-space ...

Entanglement and Complete Positivity: Relevance and Manifestations in Classical Scalar Wave Optics
Entanglement of states and Complete Positivity of maps are concepts that have achieved physical importance with the recent growth of quantum information science. They are however mathematically relevant whenever tensor products of complex linear (Hilbert)

Coherence vortices in Mie scattered nonparaxial partially coherent beams
We have previously demonstrated that Mie scattering of partially coherent plane waves can create coherence vortices, namely screw-type dislocations in the phase of the spectral degree of coherence. However, plane waves are an idealization and in practice, optical beams are often much closer to reality.
