Coherent Matrix-Based Approach for Evaluation of First-Order Speckle Intensity Statistics and Its Application for Speckle Suppression

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
The existing approach for evaluating the statistical characteristics of speckle intensity distribution is applicable only to completely decorrelated laser beams.

Spectral elementary-coherence-function representation for partially coherent light pulses

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
A broad class of partially coherent non-stationary fields can be expressed in terms of the recently proposed independent-elementary-pulse model. In this work we first introduce a corresponding dual representation in the frequency domain and then extend this concept by considering shifted and weighted elementary spectral coherence functions.

Incoherent vector vortex-mode solitons in self-focusing nonlinear media

open access: yes, 2004
We suggest a novel type of composite spatial optical soliton created by a coherent vortex beam guiding a partially incoherent light beam in a self-focusing nonlinear medium.

Ptychographic imaging with a compact gas-discharge plasma extreme ultraviolet light source [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report the demonstration of scanning-probe coherent diffractive imaging method (also known as ptychographic CDI) using a compact and partially-coherent gas-discharge plasma source of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation at 17.3nm wavelength. Until now,

Adiabatic evolution on a spatial-photonic Ising machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Combinatorial optimization problems are crucial for widespread applications but remain difficult to solve on a large scale with conventional hardware.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Quantitative Phase Contrast Microscopy with Optimized Partially Coherent Illumination

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
This paper presents a partially coherent illumination quantitative phase contrast microscopic (PCI-QPCM) prototype. In the PCI-QPCM prototype, the light scattered by a rotating diffuser is coupled into a multi-mode fiber, and the output light is used as ...

New features of modulational instability of partially coherent light; importance of the incoherence spectrum

open access: yes, 2003
It is shown that the properties of the modulational instability of partially coherent waves propagating in a nonlinear Kerr medium depend crucially on the profile of the incoherent field spectrum.
