Effect of HBr on Explosion Limits of Stoichiometric Hydrogen‐oxygen Mixture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Kinetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This work, based on numerical simulations, discusses the effect of HBr as an inhibitor on the explosion limit of stoichiometric hydrogen‐oxygen gas mixture in a closed spherical vessel. The numerical simulation solves the complete governing equations for mass, momentum, species and energy.

DNS of turbulence backscatter in a laboratory-scale swirl stabilized aero-combustor

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science
Classical theories of turbulence suggest that the kinetic energy cascade in nonreacting flows has a net transfer of energy from large to small scales. However, previous studies demonstrated that the thermal expansion of premixed flames can reverse the ...

Numerical study on the combustion process in a gas turbine combustor with different reference velocities

open access: yesAdvances in Aerodynamics, 2023
The mixing and combustion processes under different reference velocities in a gas turbine combustor were numerically investigated using the Flamelet Generated Manifold (FGM) model based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) method.

A fast, low-memory, and stable algorithm for implementing multicomponent transport in direct numerical simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Implementing multicomponent diffusion models in reacting-flow simulations is computationally expensive due to the challenges involved in calculating diffusion coefficients.

Flame‐Assisted Modification of Glass Wettability: Preliminary Results

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fog formation and moisture condensation limit the performance of glass surfaces in optical, microfluidic, and sensing applications, where stable transparency under humid conditions is essential. Enhancing surface wettability represents an effective strategy to mitigate these effects; therefore, the development of methods to tailor glass ...

Linear stability of planar premixed flames: reactive Navier-Stokes equations with finite activation energy and arbitrary Lewis number [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A numerical shooting method for performing linear stability analyses of travelling waves is described and applied to the problem of freely propagating planar premixed flames.

Posidonia oceanica Leaves as a Natural Filler for Poly(Butylene Succinate‐Co‐Adipate) Composites: Characterization and Biodegradation Assessment in Seawater

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
This study shows that incorporating 5–10 wt.% Posidonia oceanica, with or without micro‐talc, in PBSA preserves thermal stability, modifying crystallization behavior, and maintains good filler dispersion and interfacial adhesion. Mechanical properties are moderately stiffened.

An SMLD joint PDF model for turbulent non-premixed combustion using the flamelet progress-variable approach

open access: yes, 2015
This paper provides an improved flamelet/progress variable (FPV) model for the simulation of turbulent combustion, employing the statistically most likely distribution (SMLD) approach for the joint probability density function (PDF) of the mixture ...
