Search for the rare semi-leptonic decay J/ψ → D − e+ ν e + c.c.

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Using 10.1 × 109 J/ψ events produced by the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPCII) at a center-of-mass energy s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.097 GeV and collected with the BESIII detector, we present a search for the rare semi-leptonic decay J/ψ → D − e + ν e

Systematic study of the simultaneous events detected by GECAM

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Gravitational-wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) is a constellation of all-sky monitors in hard X-ray and gamma-ray bands, primarily observing high-energy transients such as gamma-ray bursts, soft gamma-ray repeaters ...

Observation of e + e − → ηψ(2S) at center-of-mass energies from 4.236 to 4.600 GeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Using a total of 5.25 fb −1 of e + e − collision data with center-of-mass energies from 4.236 to 4.600 GeV, we report the first observation of the process e + e − → ηψ(2S) with a statistical significance of 4.9 standard deviations.

High-energy particle physics with IceCube

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract While the Standard Model has experienced great predictive success, the neutrino sector still holds opportunities for surprises. Numerous ongoing and planned experiments exist to probe neutrino properties at low energies. The IceCube Neutrino Observatory, comprised of over 5000 photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) situated in a cubic ...

Searching for exotic particles in high-energy physics with deep learning [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2014
Collisions at high-energy particle colliders are a traditionally fruitful source of exotic particle discoveries. Finding these rare particles requires solving difficult signal-versus-background classification problems, hence machine learning approaches are often used.

Unveiling hidden millihertz quasi-periodic oscillations in 1A 0535+262

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Be/X-ray binary pulsars exhibit transient outbursts and complex timing behaviour, including millihertz quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs), whose physical origin and energy dependence remain poorly understood.

Measurement of the cross section of e + e − → ηπ + π − at center-of-mass energies from 3.872 GeV to 4.700 GeV

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
Using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 19 fb −1 at twenty-eight center-of-mass energies from 3.872 GeV to 4.700 GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron-positron collider, the process e + e − → ηπ + π − and the ...

Measurement of the D → K − π + π + π − and D → K − π + π 0 coherence factors and average strong-phase differences in quantum-correlated D D ¯ $$ D\overline{D} $$ decays

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
The decays D → K − π + π + π − and D → K − π + π 0 are studied in a sample of quantum-correlated D D ¯ $$ D\overline{D} $$ pairs produced through the process e + e − → ψ(3770) → D D ¯ $$ D\overline{D} $$ , exploiting a data set collected by the BESIII ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Partial wave analysis of the charmed baryon hadronic decay Λ c + $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+} $$ → Λπ + π 0

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
Based on e + e − collision samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.4 fb −1 collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.6 GeV and 4.7 GeV, a partial wave analysis of the charmed baryon hadronic decay Λ c ...
