Phosphate transport in submitochondrial particles
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1974Summary Submitocondrial particles prepared from bovine heart mitochondria in the presence of CaCl 2 on MnCl 2 take up inorganic phosphate. The reaction is sensitive to mersalyl and to hydrophobic N-benzylmaleimide but is insensitive to N-ethylmaleimide. These findings indicate that the phosphate transport system is oriented asymmetrically.

Turbulent Particle Transport in Magnetized Plasmas
Physical Review Letters, 2003Particle transport in magnetized plasmas is investigated with a fluid model of drift wave turbulence. An analytical calculation shows that magnetic field curvature and thermodiffusion drive an anomalous pinch. The curvature driven pinch velocity is consistent with the prediction of turbulence equipartition theory.

Particles and particle transport in ion implanters
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1985Abstract The behavior of particles on wafers during implantation is analyzed and methods of eliminating particles are discussed. Particle transport is mainly aerodynamic and particles are held on wafers by electrostatic (and chemical) forces. By eliminating aerodynamic forces and decreasing electrostatic forces, particle count on wafers can be ...

Fluid flow and particle transport in mechanically ventilated airways. Part II: particle transport
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 2015The flow mechanisms that play a role on aerosol deposition were identified and presented in a companion paper (Timothy et al. in Med Biol Eng Comput. doi: 10.1007/s11517-015-1407-3 , 2015). In the current paper, the effects of invasive conventional mechanical ventilation waveforms and endotracheal tube (ETT) on the aerosol transport were investigated ...

Particle Transport and Deposition: Basic Physics of Particle Kinetics
Comprehensive Physiology, 2013AbstractThe human body interacts with the environment in many different ways. The lungs interact with the external environment through breathing. The enormously large surface area of the lung with its extremely thin air‐blood barrier is exposed to particles suspended in the inhaled air.

Particle Transport Through Perforations
Society of Petroleum Engineers Journal, 1982Abstract This paper describes a new procedure for determining particle-transport efficiency through perforations. Transport efficiency is the mass fraction of particles that are transported through the perforations relative to the total mass of particles injected.

Particle confinement times in present day controlled fusion devices are typically less than a tenth of the discharges’ duration, and this fraction will decrease in future machines with larger discharge times. Thus it is important to study the mechanism of the recycling of neutral atoms and molecules formed as plasma ions strike device walls at the ...

Quantization of particle transport
Physical Review B, 1983The integrated particle current produced by a slow periodic variation of the potential of a Schr\"odinger equation is evaluated. It is shown that in a finite torus the integral of the current over a period can vary continuously, but in an infinite periodic system with full bands it must have an integer value.
