System partitioning and its measure
Journal of Systems and Software, 1981Program modules and data structures are interconnected by calls and references in software systems. Partitioning these entities into clusters reduces complexity. For very large systems manual clustering is impractical. A method to perform automatic clustering is described and a metric to quantify the complexity of the resulting partition is developed.

Dynamic partitioning of multiprocessor systems
International Journal of Parallel Programming, 1989Partitioning of processors on a multiprocessor system involves logically dividing the system into processor partitions. Programs can be executed in the different partitions in parallel. Optimally setting the partition size can significantly improve the throughput of multiprocessor systems. The speedup characteristics of parallel programs can be defined

Partitioning and Tearing Systems of Equations
Journal of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Series B Numerical Analysis, 1965Introduction. Kron [1] has developed a technique for tearing large, sparse linear systems of algebraic equations into smaller systems, then putting the solutions of these smaller systems together to form the solution of the original problem. This can result in a great savings over solving the whole system in one piece.

System-level partitioning with uncertainty
Proceedings of the seventh international workshop on Hardware/software codesign - CODES '99, 1999Several models and algorithms have been proposed in the past to generate HW/SW components for system-level designs. However, they were focused on a single designer who had a throughout knowledge of the design. In other words, the decision trade-offs were simplified to a stand-alone developer who did not have to consider individual skills, concurrent ...

SPARTA: A System Partitioning Aid
IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems, 1986This paper presents SPARTA, the System PARTitioning Aid. Partitioning is the design phase in which a system's functionality is divided into smaller parts that fit onto physical units. SPARTA is a unique and interesting approach to computer-aided partitioning of systems SPARTA performs the tedious calculation of each design factor (such as area) for ...

On the Stability of a Partitioning Algorithm for Tridiagonal Systems
SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1998The paper presents componentwise error analysis of \textit{Wang}'s partitioning algorithm [ACM Trans. Math. Software 7, 170-183 (1981; Zbl 0473.65010)] for solving large tridiagonal linear systems. Bounds on the forward and backward errors are obtained, depending on three constants. In the case of forward error estimation two types of condition numbers

Partitioning of VLSI circuits and systems
33rd Design Automation Conference Proceedings, 1996, 1996Partitioning plays an increasingly important role in the design process of VLSI circuits and systems. There are partitioning problems to be solved on all levels of abstraction. The rapidly increasing size of the designs will make good partitioning tools even more essential in the future.

Computational partitioning for heterogeneous systems
2010The high-level goal of this research is to identify a method to accelerate general purpose software using heterogeneous systems. Heterogeneous systems offer the potential of improving performance through the use of hardware components specialised for a particular task.
