Passivity analysis and passivation of feedback systems using passivity indices
2014 American Control Conference, 2014Passivity indices are used to measure the excess or shortage of passivity. While most of the work in the literature focuses on stability conditions for interconnected systems using passivity indices, here we focus on passivity and passivation of the feedback interconnection of two input feed-forward output-feedback (IF-OF) passive systems.

A passivity measure of systems in cascade based on passivity indices
49th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2010Passivity indices are defined in terms of an excess or shortage of passivity, and they have been introduced in order to extend the passivity-based stability conditions to more general cases for both passive and non-passive systems. While most of the work on passivity-based stability results in the literature focuses on employing the feedback ...

Passivity indices and passivation of systems with application to systems with input/output delay
53rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2014A passivation method to passivate a given system by using an input-output transformation matrix is introduced. This matrix generalizes the commonly used methods of series, feedback and feedforward interconnections to passivate a system. Through an appropriate design of this matrix, positive passivity levels can be guaranteed for the system.

Abstract In this paper, passivity and passivation problems for event-triggered feedback interconnected systems are addressed. We consider passivity in two event-triggered control schemes based on the location of the event-triggered samplers: sampler at plant output and sampler at controller output.

Bounds of passivity indices via feedforward/feedback passivation
2017 IEEE 56th Annual Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2017Passivity indices are a pair of real numbers that quantitatively measure the shortage/excess of passivity of a system, which provide us with a useful tool for the analysis and design of compositional systems. For a system whose passivity indices are known, it can be passivated by adding the feedforward and/or feedback loop(s), such that its passivity ...

Control design for switched systems using passivity indices
Proceedings of the 2010 American Control Conference, 2010This paper presents a framework for control design of interconnected nonlinear switched systems using passivity and passivity indices. Background material is presented on the concept of passivity indices for continuously-varying systems. The passivity indices are then generalized to apply to switched systems to measure the level of passivity in a ...
