Passive Localization Utilizing Wireless RSSI: A Review

open access: yesCybernetics and Information Technologies
Localization is the process of determining the location of an object or device in an environment, and it can be achieved using radio frequency signals in wireless communication systems.

Effects of localization and amplification on distribution of intensity transmitted through random media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We numerically study the statistical distribution of intensity transmitted through quasi-one dimensional random media by varying the dimensionless conductance $g$ and the amount of absorption or gain.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Implicit Cooperative Positioning in Vehicular Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Absolute positioning of vehicles is based on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) combined with on-board sensors and high-resolution maps. In Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS), the positioning performance can be augmented by ...

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Closed-Form Method for Unified Far-Field and Near-Field Localization Based on TDOA and FDOA Measurements

open access: yesRemote Sensing
When the near-field and far-field information of a target is uncertain, it is necessary to choose a suitable localization method. The modified polar representation (MPR) method integrates the two scenarios and achieves a unified localization with ...

Functional selectivity of GPCR-directed drug action through location bias. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are increasingly recognized to operate from intracellular membranes as well as the plasma membrane. The β 2 -adrenergic GPCR can activate G s -linked cyclic AMP (G s -cAMP) signaling from endosomes.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Multi-Object Tracking with Distributed Drones’ RGB Cameras Considering Object Localization Uncertainty

open access: yesDrones
Reliable 3D multi-object tracking (MOT) using distributed drones remains challenging due to the lack of active sensing and the ambiguity in associating detections from different views. This paper presents a passive sensing framework that integrates multi-

Model-based ocean acoustic passive localization [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of OCEANS'94, 2002
A model-based approach is developed (theoretically) to solve the passive localization problem. The author investigates the design of a model-based identifier for a shallow water ocean acoustic problem characterized by a normal-mode model. In this problem it is shown how the processor can be structured to estimate the vertical wave numbers directly from
