Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...

SPECIFICITY OF THE PASSIVE STATE OF IRON IN SLIGHTLY ALKALINE AQUEOUS MEDIA WITH DIFFERENT ANIONIC COMPOSITION

open access: yesКонденсированные среды и межфазные границы, 2017
A comparative analysis of the effect of anionic composition and hydrodynamic conditions on the passivation of iron in a borate buffer (pH 8.4) and hydrocarbonate (pH 8.3 с(NaHCO3) = 0.075 М) aqueous solutions was carried out.

‘Passive-active’ As a Functional Distinction in Husserl’s Theory of Consciousness

open access: yesStudia Philosophiae Christianae, 2022
This article discusses passive and active aspects of consciousness as two equally justified roots of life experiencing the world (Weltbewusstseinsleben). The passive domain involves the synthesis of internal time, association, habituality, bodily aspects,

Compressed Passive Macromodeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents an approach for the extraction of passive macromodels of large-scale interconnects from their frequency-domain scattering responses. Here, large scale is intended both in terms of number of electrical ports and required dynamic model ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Nonfragile Observer-Based Control With Passivity and H Performance for a Class of Power-Line Inspection Robots With Input Time-Delay

open access: yesIEEE Access
This study introduces a nonfragile observer-based control strategy for power-line inspection robots (PILRs) that adeptly tackles input time delays while integrating passivity and $H_{\infty }$ performance. The research commences with the development of

The MMP‐9/TIMP‐1 Ratio and Concentrations of Osteopontin Are Elevated in Cerebrospinal Fluid of People With Multiple Sclerosis and Decrease After Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the utility of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers—matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP‐9), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases‐1 (TIMP‐1), the MMP‐9/TIMP‐1 ratio, and osteopontin (OPN)—as indicators of blood–brain barrier (BBB) integrity and disease activity in people with relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (pwMS ...
