An integrated patch-clamp amplifier for high-throughput planar patch-clamp systems
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2008We present a fully-integrated implementation of a patch-clamp measurement system. The system was implemented in a 0.5mum silicon-on-sapphire process and is capable of recording cell membrane currents up to plusmn20nA, with a rms noise of 5pA at 10kHz bandwidth.

The previous chapters describe methods for recording ionic currents from very small, localized patches of membrane containing only one or at most a few channels. Many such single-channel records have to be averaged to obtain ensemble kinetics or current densities through the membrane. An alternative would be to record from many channels simultaneously,

[2] Constructing a patch clamp setup
1992It should be obvious that there are many ways to construct clamp set-ups that are either equivalent or sufficient for the experiments planned. The hardware and electronics can be obtained from several manufacturers, as can analysis software. What we have presented here are guidelines primarily meant to point a new experimenter in the right direction ...

Computer-assisted patch clamping
2010 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2010Patch clamping is an electrophysiological technique that permits the measurement of ion channel activity in many different kinds of cells. Placement of the patch clamp electrodes using micromanipulators is a time consuming and complicated task due to the lack of depth perception of microscope optics and the constrained physical environment. In order to

[1] Patch clamp techniques: An overview
1992Publisher Summary This chapter provides an overview of the patch clamp techniques. The patch clamp technique provides the experimental means for merging the tools of modern molecular and cellular biology with those of electrophysiology. Using various recording configurations, it is possible to dissect the mechanisms of channel modulation.

The patch-clamp technique is one of the most useful tools to analyze the function of electrically active cells such as neurons. This technique allows for the analysis of proteins (ion channels and receptors), cells (neurons), and synapses that are the building blocks of neuronal networks.

A hybrid patch clamp amplifier
Journal of Neuroscience Methods, 1989The current-to-voltage convertor used in patch clamping is analyzed for noise generation and the major noise sources determined. A hybrid patch clamp amplifier design is theoretically analyzed. Here it is shown that by differentiation and recombining of signals the original input signal can be reconstructed.

Chapter 20 Patch-Clamping Plant Cells
1995Publisher Summary This chapter describes a step-by-step protocol for patch-clamping plant cells. The description of both protoplast and vacuole isolation methods, specifically optimized for patch-clamping are discussed. The isolation procedure discussed in the chapter is rapid and combines the use of cell wall degrading enzymes, an osmotic shock, and

Patch Clamp Studies Of Lymphocyte Activation
Annual Review of Immunology, 1990In both T- and B-lymphocyte activation, antigen receptor or mitogen stimulation results in phosphoinositide turnover, generation of InsP3 and diacylglycerol, and a sustained rise in intracellular Ca2+, from both intracellular Ca2+ stores release and enhanced transmembrane Ca2+ influx. There is also an associated K+ efflux and membrane hyperpolarization.
