THERE have been 134 cases of patent omphalomesenteric duct reported, which figure probably does not reflect its true incidence. Of this number, 30 have been complicated by ileal prolapse, with only four operative recoveries. Many of these reports were made before the advent of present-day surgical technics and antibiotic adjuncts.

Evagination of ileum through patent omphalomesenteric duct
The American Journal of Surgery, 1950Abstract Evagination of ileum through a patent omphalomesenteric duct has been reported twenty-eight times previous to this case report. Operation has been attempted fourteen times with three survivals. This case is one of a patent duct with evagination of ileum cured by early operation.

Patent omphalomesenteric duct and exomphalos minor: a rare and interesting association.
International surgery, 2008A completely patent omphalomesenteric duct was seen in association with two cases of exomphalos minor. Both the patients also had limb anomalies, and one patient had an ileal duplication and colonic atresia. Both babies underwent emergency surgery to correct the anomalies, and one survived.
