Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Past of a quantum particle: Common sense prevails

open access: yes, 2017
We analyze Vaidman's three-path interferometer with weak path marking [Phys. Rev. A 87, 052104 (2013)] and find that common sense yields correct statements about the particle's path through the interferometer.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Three-year trends in malaria transmission parameters under deployment of Interceptor®G1, Interceptor®G2 and PermaNet®3.0 insecticide-treated bed nets in South-Western Burkina Faso

open access: yesMalaria Journal
Background In South-Western Burkina Faso, where malaria remains highly endemic, the widespread resistance of Anopheles mosquitoes to pyrethroid is reducing the effectiveness of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs).

OmniVista:an application for isovist field and path analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper briefly describes the software application OmniVista written for the Apple MacintoshPlatform. OmniVista is essentially an isovist generating application, which uses the 2d planof a building or urban environment as input data, and then can be ...

A note on Hawking radiation via complex path analysis

open access: yes, 2010
As long as we neglect backreaction, the Hawking temperature of a given black hole would not depend upon the parameters of the particle species we are considering.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Differential effects of dual and synergist-based insecticide-treated bed nets on pyrethroid resistance and L995F/S knockdown resistance mutation dynamics in Anopheles gambiae s.l. populations in south-western Burkina Faso

open access: yesParasites & Vectors
Background The introduction of next-generation insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) in Burkina Faso aims to mitigate pyrethroid resistance in malaria vectors.

Antenatal care surveillance for monitoring malaria prevalence and intervention coverage: a multicountry analysis

open access: yesBMJ Global Health
Estimates of malaria prevalence and intervention coverage in Africa are primarily based on nationally representative household (HH) surveys. However, the expense and infrequency limit the utility of HH surveys for operational action by malaria programmes.
