We develop a new efficient approach for the simulation of static properties of quantum systems using path integral molecular dynamics in combination with metadynamics. We use the isomorphism between a quantum system and a classical one in which a quantum particle is mapped into a ring polymer.

The paper presents experimental evidence for homing by path integration in a bird. Using a mammalian model case, the essentials of a cybernetical theory of this type of navigation are developed. As a consequence of its application to the extant data on geese, the necessary information about the translatory component of the animal’s movement along its ...

The matrix elements between wavelets of the quantum propagator for a large class of Hamiltonians on the half-line are given in terms of path integral. It is a sum over path defined on the upper half plane with a Wiener measure associated to the hyperbolic Laplacian in the limit where the diffusion constant diverges.

The most notable advance in our knowledge of path integration in insects is a new understanding of how the honeybee measures the distance that it travels during its foraging trips. Data from two groups show that the bee's odometer records distance in terms of the net amount of image motion over the retina that is accumulated during a flight.

Modular path integral methodology for real-time quantum dynamics.
Journal of Chemical Physics, 2018In a recent communication [N. Makri, J. Chem. Phys. 148, 101101 (2018)], it was shown that the locality of interactions in many systems of interest allows a decomposition of the path integral and its evaluation via sequential linking of the paths of ...
