Bacteria are less important than fungi or viruses as agents of disease in plants, but as mentioned previously there are some very destructive bacterial diseases (bacterioses), particularly so in the warmer, wetter parts of the world. They are, however, more important than fungi as pathogens of warm-blooded animals, including man.
