Shift of N-MYC Oncogene Expression in AML Patients Carrying the FLT3-ITD Mutation

open access: yesPathophysiology, 2023
Mutations in the FLT3 gene not only lead to abnormalities in its structure and function, but also affect the expression of other genes involved in leukemogenesis.

Pathophysiology of proteinuria [PDF]

open access: yesKidney International, 2003
Proteinuria is consequence of two mechanisms: the abnormal transglomerular passage of proteins due to increased permeability of glomerular capillary wall and their subsequent impaired reabsorption by the epithelial cells of the proximal tubuli. In the various glomerular diseases, the severity of disruption of the structural integrity of the glomerular ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Shock-Associated Systemic Inflammation in Amniotic Fluid Embolism, Complicated by Clinical Death

open access: yesPathophysiology, 2023
Background: Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is one of the main causes of maternal mortality in developed countries. The most critical AFE variants may be considered from the perspective of systemic inflammation (SI), a general pathological process that ...

Spinal Cord Injury: Pathophysiology, Multimolecular Interactions, and Underlying Recovery Mechanisms

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2020
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a destructive neurological and pathological state that causes major motor, sensory and autonomic dysfunctions. Its pathophysiology comprises acute and chronic phases and incorporates a cascade of destructive events such as ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Pulsed-Field Ablation Is Associated with Lower Endothelial Injury and Procedure Time Compared to Cryoballoon Ablation in Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesPathophysiology
Background: Thromboembolic events, though infrequent, remain a significant complication of atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation, largely related to endothelial damage.
