Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) for Acute Stroke: Rationale, Methods and Future Directions.

open access: yesStroke, 2018
Traditionally, important clinical outcomes after stroke have included survival, stroke recurrence, and the need for long-term aftercare, as well as a diverse range of measures that quantify the direct and indirect impact of stroke on patient functioning.

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

Patient-Reported Outcomes: Conceptual Issues

open access: yesValue in Health, 2007
There is a broad agreement that patient-reported outcome (PRO) assessment in health care should proceed from a strong conceptual basis, with rationales clearly articulated in advance concerning what is to be measured and how this is to be accomplished.

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Establishing meaningful change thresholds for European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire CLL‐specific module domain scores: An analysis based on the TRANSCEND CLL 004 study in patients with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukaemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma

open access: yeseJHaem
Introduction The study aimed to establish meaningful thresholds at patient and group levels for the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire CLL‐specific module (EORTC QLQ‐CLL17) domain scores in adults ...

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Patient reported outcome measures and quality of life assessment in genital gender confirming surgery.

open access: yesTranslational Andrology and Urology, 2019
Transgender and gender nonbinary (TGNB) individuals may seek genital gender confirming surgery (GCS) as part of their transition. Outcomes of genital GCS may include gender congruence, sexual functioning and satisfaction, urinary symptoms, aesthetic ...

Patient-reported outcomes in psychiatry

open access: yesDialogues in Clinical Neuroscience, 2014
The recent trend for recognizing the need that patients actively participate in the assessment of the outcome of treatment is a welcome development, not only because it adds valuable data, but also because its recognition of the partnership role that the patients should have in research on outcome of mental illness.
