The late auditory evoked potential (AEP) was studied in response to an alternatingly frequency-modulated complex tone. This 'pattern-reversal' AEP was found to be a heartier response than the more conventional tone-burst evoked potential, albeit longer in latency.

Pattern-reversal visual evoked potential

A detailed method of analysis of the pattern-reversal visual evoked potential is presented. This method takes into account a number of parameters in addition to the latency of the major surface-positive component (P2) and has been tested in a group of 50 normal subjects and in 98 patients with established or suspected multiple sclerosis (MS).

Drifting patterns as field reversals

One-dimensional patterns generated by the Faraday instability at the surface of a vertically vibrated fluid are investigated when the reflection symmetry in the direction of the pattern is broken. For large symmetry breaking, the stationary instability turns into a Hopf bifurcation at a codimension-2 point.
