Dynamical Localization in the Paul Trap

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1997
We show that quantum localization occurs in the center-of-mass motion of an ion stored in a Paul trap and interacting with a standing laser field. The present experimental state of the art makes the observation of this phenomenon feasible.

Computed Tomography‐ and Photoacoustic Imaging‐Active Bioresorbable Electrospun Bismuth Nanoparticle‐Infused Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A polymeric graft loaded with radiopaque bismuth nanoparticles is expected to undergo gradual polymer resorption and nanoparticle release. This design enables noninvasive, multimodal monitoring of device integrity, patency, and degradation using computed tomography alongside ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging over 12 weeks.

Will income inequality cause a middle-income trap in Asia? Bruegel Working Paper 2013/06, 10 October 2013 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Asian economy is expected to realise favourable growth during the first half of this century, but there is no guarantee. There is a discussion about a ‘middle-income trap’, which refers to a country that has realised rapid growth to become a middle ...

Single‐Chromophore Homojunction Organic Solar Cells: A Path to Simplicity and Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses how the intrinsic optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors, their molecular packing in the solid‐state, and internal energetic gradients within a device can enable free‐charge carrier generation in homojunction organic solar cells.

Proposal for Trapped-Ion Quantum Memristor

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
A quantum memristor combines the memristive dynamics with the quantum behavior of the system. We analyze the idea of a quantum memristor based on ultracold ions trapped in a Paul trap.

The Beta-decay Paul Trap Mk IV: Design and commissioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The Beta-decay Paul Trap is an open-geometry, linear trap used to measure the decays of $^8$Li and $^8$B to search for a tensor contribution to the weak interaction. In the latest $^8$Li measurement of Burkey et al.

Paul trapping of charged particles in aqueous solution [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2011
We experimentally demonstrate the feasibility of an aqueous Paul trap using a proof-of-principle planar device. Radio frequency voltages are used to generate an alternating focusing/defocusing potential well in two orthogonal directions. Individual charged particles are dynamically confined into nanometer scale in space. Compared with conventional Paul

Engineering Pluripotent Stem Cells‐Derived Inner Ear Organoids With Enhanced Maturation and Reproducibility by Micro‐Topographical Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐topographical cues applied through temporally controlled microscale confinement improve the reproducibility, spatial organization, and neurosensory‐associated features of pluripotent stem cell‐derived inner ear organoids. Integration with a vascularized organoid platform further enables controlled investigation of vascular‐epithelial interactions
