Preparation and characterization of PLA/PBAT/CNC blend nanocomposites

open access: yesColloid and Polymer Science, 2021
In this study, the effect of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) on the properties of polylactide (PLA)/poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) blends was investigated. Samples were prepared via (i) solution casting (SC) and (ii) combination of solution casting and melt mixing through twin-screw extruder (mTSE).

The Potential of Bioplastic Waste Made From Polybutylene Adipate-Co-Terephthalate (PBAT) as Compost Mixtures

open access: yesJurnal Presipitasi
Biodegradable bioplastics offer an environmentally friendly alternative. One type of bioplastic being developed is Polybutylene Adipate-Co-Terephthalate (PBAT), an aliphatic-aromatic polyester capable of decomposing through microbial activity. This study

Poly(Hydroxybutyrate‐Co‐Hydroxyvalerate)/Thermoplastic Starch Blends for Application in Biodegradable Mulch Films

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate)/thermoplastic starch blends, produced by melt processing, showed improvements in mechanical properties and water vapor transmission barrier performance, which can help control excessive water evaporation from the soil, thus contributing to pH and moisture regulation.

Directed Evolution of an Efficient Polycarbonate Depolymerase With Exceptional Operational Stability

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
Here, we show that well studied PET hydrolases can be re‐engineered via directed evolution to deconstruct alternative aromatic‐containing commodity polymers. Introduction of only three mutations into LCCICCG was sufficient to generate an efficient polycarbonate hydrolase with high operational stability that can fully depolymerize a polycarbonate sample

Isolation and Degradation Characteristics of PBAT Film Degrading Bacteria

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2022
In recent years, PBAT (polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate) mulch has become one of the most commonly used biodegradable mulching films. In this paper, five potential strains of PBAT film degrading bacteria were screened from the soil sample using PBAT film as the sole carbon source.

PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF EXTRUDED PBAT/ORGANOCLAY FILMS

open access: yesProceedings of the 4th Brazilian Conference on Composite Materials, 2018
Abstract In this paper, we investigate the influence of organoclay identity and content on the tensile properties, gas permeation characteristics and biodegradation of extruded poly(butylene adipate)-co-(butylene terephthalate) (PBAT)/organophilic clay films. Cloisite C10A and C30B organoclays were used as fillers with loading levels of 0, 1 and 3 wt%

Compatibilization and Reinforcement of PHB/PBAT Blends via Sequential Blending of Surface‐Modified Cellulose

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Sequential blending improved the mechancial properties of PHB/PBAT/cellulose composites as compared to the one‐step batch mixing method. ABSTRACT Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a natural and biodegradable polymer generated by bacteria. While its applications to potentially replace petroleum‐based plastics are severely limited due to its brittleness and ...

Heat Treatment Effects on the Mechanical Properties and Morphologies of Poly (Lactic Acid)/Poly (Butylene Adipate-co-terephthalate) Blends

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2013
In this study the relationships between mechanicals properties and morphology of the poly (lactic acid) (PLA)/poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) blends with or without heat treatment were investigated.
