The Potential Use of Epoxy‐POSS as a Reactive Hybrid Compatibilizers for PLA/PBAT Blends: “Effect of PBAT Molecular Weight and POSS Type”

open access: yesPolymer Engineering & Science, 2019
This article focuses on the effect of molecular weight of poly(butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) (PBAT) on the immiscible poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/PBAT blends compatibilized with epoxidized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (Epoxy‐POSSs) having different numbers of epoxy groups per molecule.

Biodegradable Materials Composed of PLA and High Load Triglycerides

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 6, June 2026.
Transparent films of polylactic acid (PLA) was prepared with high sesame oil load (50% w/w). The cross‐section analysis of the films indicate that the oils are not absorbed into the polymer matrix; rather, they are stored as small droplets within the film.

The Invisible White Micropollutants of Green Agriculture: 10 Essential Scientific Questions for the Future of Agricultural Microplastic Research

open access: yesModern Agriculture, Volume 4, Issue 1, June 2026.
Intensive field application of agricultural plastic mulch films leads to widespread soil accumulation of weathered microplastics and nanoplastics. Although these particles alter soil functions and modulate co‐occurring pollutant migration, the underlying interfacial and biogeochemical mechanisms remain largely unclear.

Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) biodegradable microplastics accelerated the decomposition of amino sugar in soil

open access: yesCambridge Prisms: Plastics
Biodegradable microplastics (BMPs) are reported to have a priming effect on soil organic matter (SOM) decomposition. However, their impact on the turnover of specific SOM components, especially nitrogen (N)-containing ones, remains unclear.

Multilayer Cellulose Acetate–Viscose Films for Bio‐Based, Bio‐Degradable Packaging Applications

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 39, Issue 6, Page 685-695, June 2026.
Cellulose acetate (CA) and cellulose foils stick together comprehensively after mild cellulose sodium hydroxide treatment and heated compression. For combined foils, water barrier properties correlate with CA thickness. Oxygen permeation suffers due to the sodium hydroxide pre‐treatment induced foil changes. The composite represents a biodegradable and
