In Situ Quantization with Memory‐Transistor Transfer Unit Based on Electrochemical Random‐Access Memory for Edge Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By combining ionic nonvolatile memories and transistors, this work proposes a compact synaptic unit to enable low‐precision neural network training. The design supports in situ weight quantization without extra programming and achieves accuracy comparable to ideal methods. This work obtains energy consumption advantage of 25.51× (ECRAM) and 4.84× (RRAM)

What makes policy for wind- and solar energy on land acceptable? An assessment of perceived policy legitimacy

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications
Large-scale changes in society are required to achieve policy goals for a transition to a sustainable energy system. Understanding how citizens perceive regional plans for the placement of wind and solar can help policymakers design their policy. Our aim

Granular approach to adaptivity in problem-based learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Constructivist approach to learning has been around for quite some time. The constructivist theory has resulted in the development of a wide variety of learning environments, however the problem-based learning (PBL) environment is one of the most ideal ...

Reconstruction of Cluster Masses using Particle Based Lensing I: Application to Weak Lensing

open access: yes, 2008
We present Particle-Based Lensing (PBL), a new technique for gravitational lensing mass reconstructions of galaxy clusters. Traditionally, most methods have employed either a finite inversion or gridding to turn observational lensed galaxy ellipticities ...
