Pbx and Meis proteins act as cofactors to various transcription factors, but their exact functions have been unclear. A report by Berkes et al. in Molecular Cell now demonstrates that Pbx and Meis may penetrate repressive chromatin to mark specific genes for activation.

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: Molecular Staging, Risk Factors, Therapeutics, and Emerging Trends
The heterogeneous landscape of DPN can be unified through a tripartite pathogenic model encompassing progressive stages of metabolic dysregulation, chronic inflammation, and overt neuronal damage. Within this framework, six clinical subtypes were identified, namely, hyperglycemia‐driven, dyslipidemia‐driven, inflammation‐driven, dysvascularity‐driven ...

The attempt to restore homeostasis, once disrupted, such that complex signaling, crosstalk between ubiquitous proteins, and a diverse range of pathways gone awry is near impossible, especially in the presence of an ongoing pathogenic stimuli with ...

Online Learning of Noisy Data with Kernels [PDF]
We study online learning when individual instances are corrupted by adversarially chosen random noise. We assume the noise distribution is unknown, and may change over time with no restriction other than having zero mean and bounded variance.

ABSTRACT Mechanical properties are a critical performance metric for many high explosive (HE) materials and tensile strength properties are particularly important. Direct tensile measurements using dogbone shaped samples are the gold standard but they have the disadvantage that they are fairly large and require samples machined from billets.

Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) is an aggressive pathological pattern of prostate cancer (PCa). We investigated the association of IDC-P in prostate biopsy (PBx) with several pathological features after radical prostatectomy (RP) and its ...

Ultrasound Characterization of Plastic Bonded Explosives With Varied Binder Content and Density
ABSTRACT Advanced explosive formulations and methods of production require rapid characterization for both processes and materials. Here, we present results for ultrasound characterization of a plastic bonded explosive (PBX) formulation as a function of binder weight percent and pressing density using through‐transmission sound speed measurements.

Consistent nonparametric Bayesian inference for discretely observed scalar diffusions [PDF]
We study Bayes procedures for the problem of nonparametric drift estimation for one-dimensional, ergodic diffusion models from discrete-time, low-frequency data. We give conditions for posterior consistency and verify these conditions for concrete priors,

This study presents an alternative method to manufacture polymer‐bonded explosives by partially curing an HTPB‐based molding powder prior to compaction. The study shows that the length of partial cure time before compaction directly influenced the geometric fidelity, homogeneity, compressive strength, density, and internal microstructure.

Objective To refine prostate cancer (PCa) pathways by comparing micro‐ultrasonography‐targeted biopsy (micro‐US‐TBx) with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐TBx for detecting clinically significant PCa (csPCa) and by evaluating diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value).
