FUT8 Is a Critical Driver of Prostate Tumour Growth and Can Be Targeted Using Fucosylation Inhibitors. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Background An unmet clinical need requires the discovery of new treatments for men facing advanced prostate cancer. Aberrant glycosylation is a universal feature of cancer cells and plays a key role in tumour growth, immune evasion and metastasis.

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models. [PDF]
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

ST6GAL1‐mediated aberrant sialylation promotes prostate cancer progression
Abstract Aberrant glycosylation is a universal feature of cancer cells, and cancer‐associated glycans have been detected in virtually every cancer type. A common change in tumour cell glycosylation is an increase in α2,6 sialylation of N‐glycans, a modification driven by the sialyltransferase ST6GAL1.

Heat‐treated steel is widely used in industrial applications due to its high strength and other desirable mechanical qualities. Grinding, which requires a lot of power and is expensive, is typically used to harden machining. In recent times, hard machining has emerged as a viable alternative to grind in select applications.

The effect of hydrogen on the fracture toughness of friction‐stir welded API 5L X70 pipeline steels
Abstract The hydrogen embrittlement (HE) leads to severe steel degradation of mechanical properties. The hydrogen atoms diffuse into the steel and get positioned into reversible and irreversible trap sites. The pipe to transport oil and gas needs to be welded to construct long‐distance pipeline projects; thus, friction‐stir welding (FSW) has proven an ...

Abstract Current biomarkers are inadequate prognostic predictors in localized prostate cancer making treatment decision‐making challenging. Previously, we observed that the combination of more variable telomere length among prostate cancer cells and shorter telomere length in prostate cancer‐associated stromal cells – the telomere biomarker – is ...

The permanent metal joining processes play a vital role in assembling the complex aluminium structures of the aerospace, automotive, marine, and oil industries. The invention of friction stir welding (FSW) redefined the mechanism of metal joining to produce high‐quality welds by eliminating the consumption of electrodes and shielding gases, resulting ...
