Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Contribution of Cystine-Glutamate Antiporters to the Psychotomimetic Effects of Phencyclidine [PDF]
Altered glutamate signaling contributes to a myriad of neural disorders, including schizophrenia. While synaptic levels are intensely studied, nonvesicular release mechanisms, including cystine–glutamate exchange, maintain high steady-state glutamate ...

Variably Protease‐Sensitive Prionopathy: Two New Cases With Motor Neuron‐Dementia Syndrome
ABSTRACT We describe two patients with variably protease‐sensitive prionopathy (VPSPr) who developed progressive upper motor neuron symptoms, insomnia, behavioral and cognitive decline, compatible with primary lateral sclerosis associated with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Directional alignment of different cell types organizes planar cell polarity
Summary: Intercellular coupling between core PCP proteins is essential for unidirectional polarization of epithelial cells, known as planar cell polarity (PCP).

An XPS Investigation of Thermal degradation and Charring of Cross-linked Polyisoprene and Polychloroprene [PDF]
Our interest in butadiene-containing polymers had led to an investigation of the thermal degradation of polyisoprene, PIP, and polychloroprene, PCP. The connection between cross-linking and thermal stability through an examination of PIP and PCP has been

Applying an Ethical Lens to the Treatment of People With Multiple Sclerosis
ABSTRACT The practice of neurology requires an understanding of clinical ethics for decision‐making. In multiple sclerosis (MS) care, there are a wide range of ethical considerations that may arise. These involve shared decision‐making around selection of a disease‐modifying therapy (DMT), risks and benefits of well‐studied medications in comparison to

Regulation of PCP by the Fat signaling pathway
Planar cell polarity (PCP) in epithelia is essential for numerous developmental events and physiological functions. One distinct signaling module involving the atypical cadherins Fat and Dachsous and the ectokinase Four-jointed appears to link the ...

Adsorption of pentachlorophenol onto activated carbon in a fixed bed : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology in Environmental Engineering at Massey University [PDF]
The adsorption of pentachlorophenol (PCP) from water onto granular activated carbon (GAC) was studied. Equilibrium and kinetic behaviour was studied, and the results used to predict fixed bed adsorber behaviour.
