Pure Fractional Optimal Control of Partial Differential Equations: Nonlinear, Delay and Two-Dimensional PDEs

open access: yesPan-American Journal of Mathematics
Novel methods for solving the optimal control problems of different and new types of the fractional partial differential equations (PDEs) as: nonlinear PDEs, delay PDEs, and two-dimensional PDEs, are introduced in this paper.

PDE-Net: Learning PDEs from Data

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we present an initial attempt to learn evolution PDEs from data. Inspired by the latest development of neural network designs in deep learning, we propose a new feed-forward deep network, called PDE-Net, to fulfill two objectives at the same time: to accurately predict dynamics of complex systems and to uncover the underlying hidden PDE ...

PDES-A [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation, 2019
In this article, we present experiences implementing a general Parallel Discrete Event Simulation (PDES) accelerator on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The accelerator can be specialized to any particular simulation model by defining the object states and the event handling code, which are then synthesized into a custom accelerator for the ...

“It Is Much Safer to Be Sparse than Connected”: Safe Control of Robotic Swarm Density Dynamics with PDE Optimization with State Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This paper proposes a novel control framework to ensure safety of a robotic swarm. A feedback optimization controller is capable of driving the swarm toward a target density while keeping risk‐zone exposure below a safety threshold. Theory and experiments show how safety is more effectively achieved for sparsely connected swarms.

Least Squares Approximation of Flatness on Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
The purpose of this paper is fourfold: (i) to introduce and study the Euler–Lagrange prolongations of flatness PDEs solutions (best approximation of flatness) via associated least squares Lagrangian densities and integral functionals on Riemannian ...

Phosphodiesterase and psychiatric disorders: a two-sample Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2023
Background Phosphodiesterases (PDEs) have been associated with psychiatric disorders in observational studies; however, the causality of associations remains unestablished.

Disentangling Aleatoric and Epistemic Uncertainty in Physics‐Informed Neural Networks: Application to Insulation Material Degradation Prognostics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Physics‐Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) provide a framework for integrating physical laws with data. However, their application to Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) remains constrained by the limited uncertainty quantification (UQ) capabilities.

Analysing detection of chronic diseases with prolonged sub-clinical periods: modelling and application to hypertension in the U.S.

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2019
Background We recently introduced a system of partial differential equations (PDEs) to model the prevalence of chronic diseases with a possibly prolonged state of asymptomatic, undiagnosed disease preceding a diagnosis.

Two‐Phase Nanofluid Flow in a Non‐Newtonian Model Past a Deformable Sheet With Magnetized Environmental Effects: Statistical Modeling and ANOVA Analysis

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a comprehensive numerical analysis of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson nanofluid movement over a permeable, linearly stretching sheet, integrating the contributions of non‐uniform heat generation or absorption and chemical interaction.
