The Effects of LED Daylength Extensions on the Daily Activity Patterns of a Greenhouse Biological Control Agent, Aphidius matricariae

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We used automated activity monitors to examine how light‐emitting diode illumination affects the daily locomotor activity of the parasitoid biocontrol agent Aphidius matricariae. We compared 4‐ to 20 h broad‐spectrum white (BSW) photoperiods, and 12 h BSW photoperiods extended with an additional 6 h of red‐blue, red‐green‐blue, or BSW light, or no ...

Dynamics of early electroencephalographic patterns and epileptic seizures in acute intracerebral hemorrhage: A prospective controlled study

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Acute symptomatic seizures (ASyS) occur in up to 30% of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) when continuous electroencephalography (cEEG) is used, potentially worsening outcomes. Identification of early EEG biomarkers of ASyS may help guide personalized antiseizure medication (ASM) prophylaxis.

Post‐Release Mortality of European Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) Discarded From Small‐Scale Estuarine Fishing

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Estuaries provide essential habitats for many fish species, but their confined and accessible nature may increase fish vulnerability to capture, and few empirical studies have quantified the value of restricting net fisheries in such areas.

Not everyone is shrinking: increases in body mass and wing length in a Sand Martin (Riparia riparia) population in northwestern Italy over two decades

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
In recent decades, vertebrates, particularly birds, have exhibited notable morphological changes in response to climate change. In birds, these temporal trends usually entail a decrease in body mass and an increase in wing length, sometimes interpreted as a compensatory strategy to maintain migration.

Feeding Preference and Foraging Behaviour of Eriopis connexa on Two Aphid Species

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aphids are phloem‐feeding insects that cause both direct and indirect damage to crops, reducing agricultural productivity. Among the available pest control strategies, biological control using natural enemies is a sustainable and effective approach. The ladybird Eriopis connexa (Germar, 1824) is a generalist predator known for its voracity and
