The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Photovoltaic System For Supplying Public Lighting As Peak Demand Shaving

open access: yesEletrônica de Potência, 2007
This paper describes the design and implementation of a grid connected photovoltaic system aimed to supply energy to the public lighting during the time of high peak demand of the grid. The system is made of two main parts: the solar energy storage unit

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Wind resources of southeast Australia during peak electricity demand days [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science
Peaks in electricity demand are critical times when it is important to understand the contribution of wind energy to the supply of electricity. In southeast Australia, peaks in electricity demand may be caused by unusually hot or cold periods that ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Regression-SARIMA modelling of daily peak electricity demand in South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Energy in Southern Africa, 2017
In this paper, seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) and regression with SARIMA errors (regression-SARIMA) models are developed to predict daily peak electricity demand in South Africa using data for the period 1996 to 2009.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

The Risk of Residential Peak Electricity Demand: A Comparison of Five European Countries

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
The creation of a Europe-wide electricity market combined with the increased intermittency of supply from renewable sources calls for an investigation into the risk of aggregate peak demand.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Toward Prediction of Energy Consumption Peaks and Timestamping in Commercial Supermarkets Using Deep Learning

open access: yesEnergies
Building energy consumption takes up over 30% of global final energy use and 26% of global energy-related emissions. In addition, building operations represent nearly 55% of global electricity consumption.
