Empirical Correlations between Peak Ground Velocity and Spectrum-Based Intensity Measures [PDF]
Empirical correlation equations between peak ground velocity ( PGV) and several spectrum-based ground motion intensity measures are developed. The intensity measures examined in particular were: peak ground acceleration ( PGA), 5% damped pseudo-spectral acceleration ( SA), acceleration spectrum intensity ( ASI), and spectrum intensity ( SI).

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Reduction of peak ground velocity by nonlinear soil response – I: Excitation by SH pulse [PDF]
Abstract We study the reduction of peak velocity on the ground surface of a soil valley for excitation by an SH half-sine pulse. This reduction is caused by the loss of wave energy during propagation accompanied by large nonlinear strains and strain localizations in the soil medium.

This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...
