Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

AN IDENTIFICATION OF GROUND VIBRATION IN NORTH-EAST OF THAILAND BY BLASTING METHOD [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
This research reports an identification of safety distance for ground vibration, which has an effect on different types of structures in the Northeast of Thailand by blasting method. The data were collected from the fieldwork in the Northeast of Thailand

Relationship between the focal mechanism of magnitude ML 3.3 seismic event induced by mining and distribution of peak ground velocity

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2017
The relationship between seismic radiation pattern generated by a strong mining induced seismic event and the distribution of peak ground velocity in the epicenter area has been presented. It was a seismic event with the local magnitude ML = 3.3 occurred

Peak ground motions and characteristics of nonlinear site response during the 2018 Mw 6.6 Hokkaido eastern Iburi earthquake

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2019
The observed peak ground accelerations and peak ground velocities (PGVs) of the 2018 Mw 6.6 Hokkaido eastern Iburi earthquake generally followed the median values from ground motion prediction equations with reasonable errors at fault distances ≥ 50 km ...

On a Sensor Placement Methodology for Monitoring the Vibrations of Horizontally Excited Ground

open access: yesSensors, 2020
In this paper, the problem of optimal sensor arrangement during vibration monitoring is analysed. The wave propagation caused by horizontal excitation is investigated to predict the areas of the largest ground and structure response.

Slip pulse and resonance of the Kathmandu basin during the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, Nepal. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Detailed geodetic imaging of earthquake ruptures enhances our understanding of earthquake physics and associated ground shaking. The 25 April 2015 moment magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Gorkha, Nepal was the first large continental megathrust rupture to have

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

GPS source solution of the 2004 Parkfield earthquake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We compute a series of finite-source parameter inversions of the fault rupture of the 2004 Parkfield earthquake based on 1 Hz GPS records only. We confirm that some of the co-seismic slip at shallow depth (
