MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Predicting Station-level Peak Hour Ridership of Metro Considering the Peak Deviation Coefficient

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract Subway station-level peak hour ridership (SPR) is a crucial input parameter for multiple applications, including the planning, design, construction, and operation of stations. However, traditional SPR estimation techniques may produce biased results.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Temporal instability of highway pedestrian crash severity: Comparative analysis of machine learning models

open access: yesTransportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives
Globally, pedestrian-involved crashes on national highways are considered unacceptable due to the clearly defined functional hierarchy of roadways. This study utilizes advanced machine learning (ML) techniques to investigate the severity of pedestrian ...

Peak-Hour Caching Schemes of Mobile Devices for Overload Cells in Wireless Caching Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In the case of broadband wireless communication systems with high carrier frequencies, high-speed wireless communication is feasible, but if high-capacity backhaul is not supplied to all base stations, a backhaul bottleneck may occur.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.
