Response of Transmission Tower Guy Wires Under Impact: Theoretical Analysis and Finite Element Simulation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Transmission tower guy wires are critical flexible tension members ensuring the stability and safe operation of overhead power transmission networks. However, these components are vulnerable to external impacts from falling rocks, ice masses, and other ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Characterizations of long-run producer optima and the short-runapproach to long-run market equilibrium: a general theory withapplications to peak-load pricing [PDF]

open access: yes
This is a new formal framework for the theory of competitive equilibrium and its applications. Our "short-run approach" means the calculation of long-run producer optimaand general equilibria from the short-run solutions to the producer's profit ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Fracture mechanics approach to design analysis of notches, steps and internal cut-outs in planar components

open access: yes, 2007
A new approach to the assessment and optimization of geometric stress-concentrating features is proposed on the basis of the correspondence between sharp crack or corner stressfield intensity factors and conventional elastic stress concentration factors (

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

New integrable hierarchy, its parametric solutions, cuspons, one-peak solitons, and M/W-shape peak solitons

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we propose a new completely integrable hierarchy. Particularly in the hierarchy we draw two new soliton equations: 1 mt= 1 2 1/m2xxx− 1 2 1/m2 x; 2 mt+mx u2−ux 2+2m2ux=0, m=u−uxx.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

A Higher-Order Energy Expansion to Two-Dimensional Singularly Neumann Problems

open access: yes, 2005
Of concern is the following singularly perturbed semilinear elliptic problem \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{c} \mbox{${\epsilon}^2\Delta u -u+u^p =0$ in $\Omega$}\\ \mbox{$u>0$ in $\Omega$ and $

Mixed interior and boundary peak solutions of the Neumann problem for the Henon equation in R^2

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
Let $\Omega$ be a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^2$ with smooth boundary and $0\in\overline{\Omega}$, we study the Neumann problem for the Henon equation $$\displaylines{ -\Delta u+u=|x|^{2\alpha}u^p,\quad u>0 \quad \text{in } \Omega,\cr \frac ...
