Peaked Periodic Wave Solutions to the Broer–Kaup Equation

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2017
Summary: By qualitative analysis method, a sufficient condition for the existence of peaked periodic wave solutions to the Broer-Kaup equation is given. Some exact explicit expressions of peaked periodic wave solutions are also presented.

Discrete Ordinates Solutions for Highly Forward Peaked Scattering

Nuclear Science and Engineering, 2004
The limitations of asymptotic methods for numerically solving highly forward peaked scattering (HFPS) problems are reviewed before resorting to a discrete ordinates solution for such problems based on biased angular quadrature formulas to increase the precision of the angular representation and on source evaluation from cell-averaged angular fluxes to ...

Modeling of modifier‐solute peak interactions in chromatography

AIChE Journal, 2005
AbstractThe behavior of a chromatographic column where a single solute is fed in the presence of a suitable modifier is analyzed in the context of equilibrium theory. In particular, the pulse propagation of the solute, whose retention depends on the modifier concentration, has been analyzed as a full‐fledged binary problem by the method of hodograph ...

Multi-peak solutions for some singular perturbation problems

Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations, 2000
The paper presents an analysis of multi-peak solutions of the following singularly perturbed problem \[ \begin{cases} \varepsilon^2\Delta u- u+ f(u)=0\quad &\text{in }\Omega,\\ u> 0\text{ in }\Omega,\;u=0\quad &\text{on }\partial\Omega,\end{cases} \] where \(\Omega\) is a smooth domain in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) (\(\Omega\) does not have to be bounded) and \(\

Snoek relaxation peaks in solid solutions of niobium

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1970
Abstract A detailed study has been carried out of the broadening effect of Snoek peaks due to oxygen and nitrogen in niobium. It is shown that the broadening is due to the presence of subsidiary Snoek peaks caused by the stress-induced migration of interstitial atoms associated in pairs and triplets.

ON OFF-PEAK PRICING: AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION

Kyklos, 1970
SUMMARY Oscillation in demand, and sales irregularity, is not an uncommon phenomenon; it occurs in the restaurant trade, retail stores, holiday resorts, in the use of recreational facilities, etc. But the economic problem is usually discussed in the context of public utilities, especially in the demand for electric power where an independent peak and ...

Solutions with multiple peaks for nonlinear elliptic equations

Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh: Section A Mathematics, 1999
Solutions with peaks near the critical points of Q(x) are constructed for the problemWe establish the existence of 2k −1 positive solutions when Q(x) has k non-degenerate critical points in ...
