Spanolepis selloanae (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) infests Cortaderia selloana (pampas grass). It lays eggs in the spikelets, where larvae feed on female parts. The high prevalence of the midge and its combined impact in seed production, condition and viability strongly reduces the reproductive output of C. selloana.
