Enhancement of Short Chain Fatty Acid Production by Co-cultures of Probiotics Fermentation with Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum) Fibre Fractions

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology, 2017
Pearl millet dietary fibre fermentation using four co-culture of three probiotic strains Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidus was studied for production of short chain fatty acids (SCFA).

Grass straw mulching to suppress emergence and early growth of weeds [PDF]

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2014
Sorghum, pearl millet, and Brachiaria ruziziensis have similar characteristics which have led to their use for mulch formation in no-till systems. This study was carried out to evaluate the potential of these three species as straw suppliers to suppress ...

Interfacial Proton‐Relay Microenvironment Enables Self‐Driven Singlet Oxygen Generation under Neutral Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An interfacial proton‐relay microenvironment at MoS2‐CuCl heterostructures enables selective O2 activation to 1O2 under neutral conditions. Electron‐deficient sulfur sites mediate proton transfer to Cu‐bound O2, accelerating *OOH hydrogenation while suppressing O─O bond cleavage, achieving stable, efficient pollutant removal.

Biomimetic Macrophage Cell Membrane‐Based Nanoparticles for Effective Treatment of Glioblastoma Through Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Combined With Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) remains largely incurable due to the blood‐brain barrier (BBB) and immunosuppressive microenvironment. While boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) selectively eradicates tumor cells via 10B(n, α)‐7Li reactions, its clinical potential in GBM is unrealized because of the suboptimal pharmacokinetics of conventional ...

Nutritional properties and plausible benefits of Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) on bone metabolism and osteoimmunology : a mini-review

open access: yesNAJFNR, 2020
Bone is a hard connective tissue that undergoes a systematic renewal. This highly dynamic organ is made up of four different types of cells, however, bone formation is commonly attributed to osteoblasts and bone resorption to osteoclasts.

ZrO2 Aerogel‐Supported Pd Nanoparticles for Photothermal CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanoparticle‐based aerogels are promising catalysts for photothermal reactions due to optical transparency, high surface area, and low thermal conductivity. Here, we present deposition of Pd nanoparticles on ZrO2 aerogel granules by a wet‐impregnation approach.

Protection Motivation Theory and Farmers' Participation in Futures Markets: Evidence From Germany

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines why German farmers show limited adoption of commodity futures contracts despite substantial price volatility, applying Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) to understand the cognitive processes driving participation decisions in futures markets. Survey data from 303 German farmers collected in 2024 were analyzed using Partial

The Curse of the Red Pearl: A Fibroblast-Specific Pearl-Necklace Mitochondrial Phenotype Caused by Phototoxicity

open access: yesBiomolecules
The dynamic nature of mitochondria makes live cell imaging an important tool in mitochondrial research. Although imaging using fluorescent probes is the golden standard in studying mitochondrial morphology, these probes might introduce aspecific features.
