Effect of V–Nb Composite Microalloying on Microstructure and Properties of Non‐Quenched and Tempered Forged Steel

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 94, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
Herein, non‐quenched and tempered forging steels containing V and V–Nb are designed, and the mechanical properties and microstructure of the two steels are compared and analyzed. The strengthening and toughening mechanism of V–Nb steel and the microalloying behavior of precipitated particles are discussed in detail.

Effect of quenching in aqueous polyvinylpyrrolidone solutions on the microstructure and pitting corrosion resistance of AISI 1045 carbon steel

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 74, Issue 5, Page 724-733, May 2023., 2023
This paper reports the pitting corrosion resistance of four types of microstructures (water‐quenched martensite, tempered martensite, bainite and degenerate pearlite, and ferrite–pearlite) in AISI 1045 medium‐carbon steel. The pitting corrosion resistances of the microstructures in near‐neutral pH solutions containing chloride ions are ordered as ...

Hydrogen uptake and diffusivity in steel armor wires with different chemical composition, carbide distribution, grain size, and degree of deformation

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 73, Issue 3, Page 326-345, March 2022., 2022
Steel armor wires in flexible pipes can be subject to corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement during operation. The failure mechanisms can be complex and a better understanding of the relationship between the microstructure and hydrogen uptake is necessary for understanding the complex failures.

Fatigue strength and notch sensitivity of high-manganese flake graphite cast iron

open access: yesResults in Materials, 2023
To increase the recovery rate of high-tensile-strength steel (HTSS) scrap, the effect of manganese (0.5% and 2.0% Mn) on the fatigue properties of several flake graphite cast iron (FGI) samples is investigated, along with the thickness and notch ...

Effect of Interlamellar Spacing on the Monotonic Behavior of C70 Pearlitic Steel [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Research, 2014
The effect of interlamellar spacing on monotonic behavior of C70 pearlitic steel was investigated. Tensile tests under X-ray diffraction coupled with self-consistent model have been used to identify the role of interlamellar spacing on the ferrite plasticity parameters and residual stresses.

Crevice corrosion of U75V high-speed rail steel with varying crevice gap size by in-situ monitoring

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
Crevice corrosion of high-speed rail steel U75V was studied with varying gap size by using self-designed device. Increasing gap size inhibited exterior cathodic reduction reaction of oxygen, inducing decrease of potential difference between interior and ...

Effect of Cooling Rate on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties in the CGHAZ of Electroslag Welded Pearlitic Rail Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2019
The effect of cooling rate, ranging from 6 to 1 °C/s, on microstructure and mechanical properties in the coarse-grained heat affected zone (CGHAZ) of electroslag welded pearlitic rail steel has been investigated by using confocal scanning laser ...

Effect of microstructure and mechanical properties on cutting force of different cast irons with similar tensile strength [PDF]

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2019
Flake graphite iron, compacted graphite iron and spheroidal graphite iron with various tensile strengths were cast. They were selected and grouped according to roughly the same tensile strength, and then the main cutting force in each group was ...

Microstructure Refinement on Crevice Corrosion of High-Speed Rail Steel U75V Visualized by an In Situ Monitoring System

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
Rail foot covered by a fastener will suffer from crevice corrosion, leading to thinning and localized attack of crevice interior posing a risk of failure. This work investigated crevice corrosion behavior of a typical pearlitic high-speed rail steel U75V,
