Corrosion Behavior of Multiphase Bainitic Rail Steels
Pearlitic steel experiences excessive corrosion in a hot and humid atmosphere. The multiphase bainitic/martensitic structure was developed for a better combination of strength and ductility, especially rolling contact fatigue, but little attention to ...

This review explains how impurities from recycled scrap affect steel production and performance. Even small amounts (far below 1%) of these impurities can change how steel behaves during fabrication but also affect the properties of the end product. With better understanding and targeted countermeasures, these challenges can be managed, enabling wider ...

Modeling of Anisotropy Evolution in Pearlitic Steel
In a pearlitic structure, large deformations lead to a re-orientation and alignment of cementite lamellae on the microscopic level. These changes in the microstructure of pearlitic steel under large plastic deformations inducesubstantial degrees of ...

This study investigates how tramp elements from increased scrap usage influence phase transformations in low‐alloyed steel. Combining dilatometry and microscopy reveal that tramp elements delay transformations, reduce critical cooling rates and increase hardenability.

The effect of hydrogen on the deformation of pearlite in steels [PDF]
Abstract Hydrogen embrittlement in steel gas infrastructure is a serious challenge for the use of hydrogen energy for global decarbonization. Steel gas pipelines contain a significant fraction of pearlite, which consists of lamellar cementite in ferrite.
