In-situ tensile-shear test in SEM and DIC analysis of two pearlitic steel microstructures: undeformed-coarse and deformed-refined

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The deformation and fracture behaviors of undeformed-coarse (UC) and deformed-refined (DR) pearlitic steel microstructure were investigated via in-situ tensile-shear (TS) test in scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Stress localisation in lamellar cementite and ferrite during elastoplastic deformation of pearlitic steel studied using diffraction and modelling

open access: yes, 2020
Synchrotron X-ray diffraction was applied to study the evolution of lattice strain and stresses in both phases of pearlitic steel during a tensile test. The advantage of the methodology used in this work is the possibility of experimental study of stress

Influence of surface defects on the fatigue crack initiation in pearlitic steel

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2014
Tensile fatigue tests were performed under load control, with constant stress range Δσ on pearlitic steel wires, from the hot rolled bar to the commercial prestressing steel wire (which has undergone seven cold drawing steps).

Size Effects of High Strength Steel Wires

open access: yesMetals, 2019
This study examines the effects of size on the strength of materials, especially on high strength pearlitic steel wires. These wires play a central role in many long span suspension bridges and their design, construction, and maintenance are important ...

An Integrated NLP‐ML Framework for Property Prediction and Design of Steels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a data‐driven framework that uses language‐processing techniques to interpret steel processing descriptions and machine‐learning models to predict mechanical properties. By organising complex process histories into meaningful groups and enabling rapid property forecasts, the work supports faster, more informed steel design through ...

Influences of Alloying Elements on Continuous Cooling Phase Transformation and Microstructures of Extremely Fine Pearlite

open access: yesMetals, 2019
In the present research, the cooling phase transformation characteristics and microstructures of a Co- and Al-containing high-carbon steel were investigated under slow cooling rates (0.02–2.0 °C/s).

Alteration of Phase Transformation Behavior and Prior Austenite Grain Structure Due to Elevated Tramp Element Concentrations in a Hypoeutectoid Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The phase transformation behavior of a hypoeutectoid steel is studied in comparison with alloys containing higher concentrations of tramp elements, simulating high recycling rates. The examination of microstructures reveals that the tramp elements facilitate the formation of displacive phases along with retained austenite.
