Electrically Tunable Friction: From Sticky to Slippery with Ionic Hydrogels
This work demonstrates electrically tunable friction “from sticky to slippery” using ionic hydrogels, achieving reversible more‐than‐fifty‐fold modulation without liquid lubricants. An electric field extracts a salt‐rich interfacial layer that dramatically reduces friction.

Rewriting Polymer Fate via Chemomechanical Coupling
This work introduces a life‐like “living” polymer platform that can grow, degrow, and reprogram its properties after fabrication. By integrating mass transport, reversible polymerization, and controlled catalysis, the material achieves on‐demand changes in size, shape, and mechanical properties.

Merging materials processing tricks inspired by mussel and mistletoe fiber fabrication, solutions of cationic mussel byssus proteins were mixed with modified anionic nanocrystalline cellulose, producing distinctive core‐shell condensates. Simple processing of condensate suspensions using freeze‐drying produced hierarchically structured porous protein ...

Pedestrian Safety for Visually Impaired Pedestrian
The UK is projected to have over four million people with sight loss by 2025, a doubling from current figures (RNIB, 2023). Despite using aids such as white canes and guide dogs, visually impaired pedestrians face challenges like navigating complex crossings and avoiding obstacles on sidewalks (Zeng, 2015; Rey-Galindo et al., 2020). These obstacles not
