Dynamique des extrêmes hydrologiques du système Chari-Logone et risques naturels dans la région de l'extrême-nord du Cameroun [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, 2021
Le système Chari-Logone est principal cours d'eau drainant l'Extrême-Nord du Cameroun. À l'image des autres parties du bassin versant de ce cours d'eau, cette région a connu plusieurs inondations catastrophiques.

Selected amino acids uptake by microorganisms in soil of differently managed mountain meadows

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2011
This work was aimed at determination of the effect of 13 years abandonment of previously long-term mown mountain meadows on uptake of L-glutamic acid (14CO2H[14CH2]2[NH2]14CO2H) and L-alanine (14CH314CH[NH2]14CO2H) by microbial community of Ap horizon (3–

Extraction of acid phosphomonoesterase from soil: testing of various extractants

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2011
The aim of this work was to to investigate the suitability of various types of extractants for extraction of acid phosphomonoesterase from soil using various types of extractants.

Organic compounds in root exudates of Miscanthus × Giganteus greef et deu and limitation of microorganisms in its rhizosphere by nutrients

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2010
This study was conducted to determine the composition of sugars and organic acids in root exudates of Miscanthus × Giganteus and to find out if microorganisms of the rhizospheric soil are limited by mineral nutrients.

Unearthing Forest History: Integrating Soil Charcoal Macrofossils and Pollen Reveals Delayed Forest Responses to Holocene Climatic Transitions in Boreal–Temperate Ecotone

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study reconstructs long‐term vegetation dynamics at the boreal–temperate forest ecotone in eastern Canada using soil charcoal, pollen records, and forest inventories. Results reveal a delayed expansion of thermophilous tree species and a late borealization of the landscape in relation to climate change, alongside recent stand‐scale shifts driven ...

Loess Studies in Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 2, June 2026.
Loess in Aotearoa New Zealand (ANZ) has been studied since its first documented recognition (on Banks Peninsula) in 1878 by Julius von Haast. A decade later, John Hardcastle revealed that southern ANZ loess was both glacial in origin and contained signals of past climates.

Is selective identification of poorly crystalline aluminum hydroxides in soils of temperate latitude possible?

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Aluminum (Al) is one of the most abundant elements in soils. As poorly crystalline Al hydroxides are reactive toward soil organic matter (SOM), they are thought to be involved in SOM stabilization. This is also inferred from correlations between soil organic carbon contents and those of Al extracted by acid oxalate in darkness (AOD), although ...

Late Glacial and Holocene aeolian sands and soil formation from the Pomeranian outwash plain (Mecklenburg, NE-Germany) [PDF]

Associations between soil characteristics and ground‐nesting bees on farms Associations entre les caractéristiques du sol et les abeilles terricoles dans les exploitations agricoles

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 18, Issue 6, Page 1037-1052, November 2025.
We collected ground‐nesting bees at 35 farms over two summers and assessed their abundance, diversity, and community composition in relation to local soil characteristics (texture, compaction, slope, and ground cover). Ground‐nesting bee abundance and species richness increased with bare ground and sand content.

Soil profiles: the more we see, the more we understand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aesthetics of soils have fascinated soil scientists in all times. Since the late 1800s soil profile drawings, paintings and photographs have been depicted in hundreds of text books.
