Developing a cognitive conservation model for the management of Malaysian birders' behavior toward birds

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Tourism
IntroductionBirdwatching as a subcategory of ecotourism can create recreational disturbance. This research aims to assess two main goals: firstly, the effects of the frequency of participation (FOP) of Malaysian birders as moderators on the constructs of

Compton scattering from the proton in an effective field theory with explicit Delta degrees of freedom [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We analyse the proton Compton-scattering differential cross section for photon energies up to 325 MeV using Chiral Effective Field Theory and extract new values for the electric and magnetic polarisabilities of the proton. Our EFT treatment builds in the

DeepSentiPeer: Harnessing Sentiment in Review Texts to Recommend Peer Review Decisions

open access: yesAnnual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, 2019
Automatically validating a research artefact is one of the frontiers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) that directly brings it close to competing with human intellect and intuition.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Rotating quantum turbulence in superfluid 4He in the T=0 limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Observations of quantum turbulence in pure superfluid 4He in a rotating container are reported. New techniques of large-scale forcing (rotational oscillations of the cubic container) and detecting (monitoring ion transport along the axis of rotation ...

Tools used to assess the quality of peer review reports: a methodological systematic review

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2019
BackgroundA strong need exists for a validated tool that clearly defines peer review report quality in biomedical research, as it will allow evaluating interventions aimed at improving the peer review process in well-performed trials.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Blockchain-enabled KYC integration for CLV optimization with robust M-Estimation and IRLS method

open access: yesICT Express
This research introduces an innovative approach in implementing Know Your Customer (KYC) on blockchain technology as a means of using data, hybrid robust m-estimation, and the iteratively reweighted less squares (IRLS) method to optimize CLV data.

Spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on an anisotropic kagome lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We use the coupled cluster method to study the zero-temperature properties of an extended two-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet formed from spin-1/2 moments on an infinite spatially anisotropic kagome lattice of corner-sharing isosceles triangles ...
