Lipid complex of Peganum harmala
Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1992The lipid complex of the seeds ofPeganum harmala (fam. Zygophyllaceae) has been investigated. The qualitative and quantitative compositions of the neutral lipids and the phospholipids have been studied. The fatty acid compositions of the acyl-containing lipids have been determined and it has been shown that in the triacylglycerols and ...

Antibacterial activity of Peganum harmala
Fitoterapia, 1999Successive petroleum ether, chloroform and methanol extracts of Peganum harmala seeds were tested (in vitro) for their antibacterial activity. The methanolic fraction was found to be most effective against all tested microorganisms.

Chemical Analysis of Population Variability in Peganum Harmala (var. Harmala)
Acta Botanica Hungaricae, 2020Both the primary and secondary metabolisms of higher plants are influenced by environmental conditions. Peganum harmala L. synthesise amazing diversity of secondary metabolites, such as alkaloids, volatile oils, triterpenes or sterols. We have no detailed information on genetic chemical contents and particularly the fatty acid contents of this plant ...

Abortifacient potential for the epigeal parts of Peganum harmala
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1989The effect of methanol and acetone extracts of the epigeal parts of Peganum harmala, a common medicinal plant among Bedouins in Israel, was studied on several parameters of reproduction in female rats. The methanol extract at a dose of 2.5 g/kg/day, offered in food or in drinking suspension for 30 days, significantly prolonged diestrus by 1.0 day.

Four flavonoid glycosides from Peganum harmala
Phytochemistry, 1997The aerial parts of Peganum harmala yielded four new flavonoids: acacetin 7-O-rhamnoside, 7-O-[6"-O-glucosyl-2"-O-(3'''-acetylrhamnosyl)glucoside and 7-O-(2'''-O-rhamnosyl-2"-O-glucosylglucoside), and the glycoflavone 2'''-O-rhamnosyl-2"-O-glucosylcytisoside.

A polarographic investigation of the alkaloids of Peganum harmala
Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 19761. The polarographic behavior of seven alkaloids fromPeganum harmala have been investigated. The products of the electrode reaction in the reduction of vasicinone and deoxyvasicinone are the corresponding carbinols, and in the reduction of harmine the product is dihydroharmine.

Genetic Transformation of Peganum harmala
1999Peganum harmala L. (Zygophyllaceae) has been a well-known plant in folk medicine and is still used in areas where it is endemic. An incredibly high number of quite different medicinal applications of the seeds and the herb are mentioned in herbal books describing native plants of North Africa and India (Boulos 1983; Ambasta 1986).
