Pellet fuelling of plasmas with ELM mitigation by resonant magnetic perturbations in MAST [PDF]

open access: yesPlasma Phys. Control. Fusion 55 025009 (2013), 2013
Shallow fuelling pellets are injected from the high field side into plasmas in which ELMs have been mitigated using external magnetic perturbation coils. The data are compared with ideal assumptions in the ITER fuelling model, namely that mitigated ELMs are not affected by fuelling pellets.

The Influence of Apple, Carrot and Red Beet Pomace Content on the Properties of Pellet from Barley Straw

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Influence of wastes generated during juice production: apple, carrot and red beet, added to barley straw, on density of pellet mass, pellet hardness, ash content and calorific value was assessed.

Fuel Pellet Alignment in Heavy-Ion Inertial Fusion Reactor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In inertial confinement fusion, the scientific issues include the generation and transport of driver energy, the pellet design, the uniform target implosion physics, the realistic nuclear fusion reactor design, etc. In this paper, we present a pellet injection into a power reactor in heavy ion inertial fusion.

Effect of Gamma Irradiation on Microbial Decontamination, Crude Nutrient Content, and Mineral Nutrient Composition of Laboratory Animal Diets [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Razi Institute, 2019
Laboratory animal models are an important part of test design. Certain conditions such as microbial contamination in diets of these models could affect the results of experiments.

Hollow pellet injection for magnetic fusion [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Fusion 59 (8), 086024 (2019), 2019
Precise delivery of mass to burning plasmas is a problem of growing interest in magnetic fusion. The answers to how much mass is necessary and sufficient can vary depending on parameters such as the type of atoms involved, the type of applications, plasma conditions, mass injector, and injection timing. Motivated by edge localized mode (ELM) control in

Treatment planning with a 2.5 MV photon beam for radiation therapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The shallow depth of maximum dose and higher dose fall‐off gradient of a 2.5 MV beam along the central axis that is available for imaging on linear accelerators is investigated for treatment of shallow tumors and sparing the organs at risk (OARs) beyond it.

Pellet fuelling with edge-localised modes controlled by external magnetic perturbations in MAST [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, Vol.55, No.1, January 2015, pp.013011, 2014
The fuelling of plasmas by shallow frozen pellets with simultaneous mitigation of edge localised modes (ELM) by external magnetic perturbation is demonstrated on the MAST tokamak. Post-pellet particle loss is dominated by ELMs and inter-ELM gas fuelling. It is shown that the size of post-pellet ELMs can be controlled by external magnetic perturbations.

A histidine‐rich extension of the mitochondrial F0 subunit ATP6 from the ice worm Mesenchytraeus solifugus increases ATP synthase activity in bacteria

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The glacier ice worm Mesenchytraeus solifugus survives year‐round at 0 °C. Its ATP6 subunit, which forms a regulatory component of the proton pore in mitochondrial ATP synthase, has a carboxy‐terminal extension not found in any other organism examined to date. Here, we show that fusion of this extension to the homologous AtpB protein in E. coli results
