Effects of Semi-purified Pellet Diet on the Chicken Intestinal Villus Histology
To establish the basic histological data on intestinal villi in chickens fed a semi-purified pellet diet, birds were divided into the following groups : intact control (IC), 3-d fasting (F), ad libitum refeeding of a formula mash diet (AFM), or force ...

Thermal Modelling of the Torrefaction Process Using the Finite Element Method
This paper focuses on the thermal characteristic of the torrefied pinecone pellets. The resistivity heating system was used for torrefaction purposes. The torrefaction was conducted at 523 K for different holding times of 5, 10 and 15 minutes.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

MHD Simulations of Pellet Injection in the LHD
To clarify motions of a plasmoid induced by pellet ablation in the Large Helical Device (LHD), MHD simulations have been conducted. When a plasmoid is located on the inboard side of the mid-plane in the LHD, it drifts in the negative direction of the ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

PELLET: An Excel®-based procedure for estimating deer population density using the pellet-group counting method [PDF]
Pellet-group counting (PGC) is a commonly used method for estimating the population density of various ungulate species. The method assumes a positive linear relationship between the number of animals and the number of pellet-groups.

Characteristics of NH3–H2 Reducing Pellets
The reduction of hematite with ammonia is a potentially environmentally friendly method of ironmaking. Previous studies on ammonia reduction of pellets typically involved samples weighing only 2.8 g and lacked detailed activation energy analysis for the ...
