Pelletization Characteristics of the Hydrothermal Pretreated Rice Straw with Added Binders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Pelletization of the loose rice straw is an attractive option to produce renewable fuels. In this paper, we focus on the problem of how to improve this pelletization process, especially to reduce energy consumption and improve product quality. In detail, we first pretreat rice straw, and then investigate the densification characteristics of the ...

Peripheral blood leukocyte signatures as biomarkers in relapsed ovarian cancer patients receiving combined anti‐CD73/anti‐PD‐L1 immunotherapy in arm A of the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using mass cytometry, we analyzed serial blood samples from patients with relapsed epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) treated with oleclumab–durvalumab combination immunotherapy in the NSGO‐OV‐UMB1/ENGOT‐OV30 trial. Our analysis identified potential predictive, monitoring, and response biomarkers detectable through liquid biopsy. These findings facilitate

Development of a precise size-controllable pellet injector for the detailed studies of ablation phenamena and mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
From the viewpoint of performance of nuclear fusion plasmas, pellet injection experiments have been actively carried out in many toroidal devices in the sense of controlling density profile, obtaining high density or improved confinement, and diagnostic purposes.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Evaluating the effect of feeding starters crumbles on the overall performance of broilers raised for 42 days

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 2020
Summary: The physical form of feed affects the feed consumption and growth rate of broilers. A 42-D experiment was conducted to determine the effects of broiler starter feed form on the growth performance of broilers.

Transonic ablation flow regimes of high-Z pellets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
In this letter, we report results of numerical studies of the ablation of argon and neon pellets in tokamaks and compare them with theoretical predictions and studies of deuterium pellets. Results demonstrate the influence of atomic physics processes on the pellet ablation process.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Docosahexaenoic Acid Included in Layer Feed as an Unextracted Aurantiochytrium limacinum Biomass Is Efficiently Transferred to Eggs When Provided in Mash or Pellet Form

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research, 2019
SUMMARY: Pelleting is commonly used in the production of poultry feed as it can reduce waste, kill pathogenic bacteria, and improve productivity. However, high temperatures used during production can negatively impact some feed ingredients.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Comparing steam-flaked and pelleted barley grain in a feed-first guided-flow automated milking system for Holstein cows

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2022
: Provision of a palatable feed in automated milking systems (AMS) is considered an essential motivating factor to encourage voluntary visits to the milking stall.
