Localized pemphigoid

British Journal of Dermatology, 1976
Of 144 patients with bullous or cicatricial pemphigoid, nine with localized pemphigoid were seen at the Mayo Clinic between 1968 and 1975. In two patients the disease had become generalized before presentation, and in one it had evolved into bullous pemphigoid, the only case with positive indirect immunofluorescence.

Bullous Pemphigoid

Dermatologic Clinics, 1987
Bullous pemphigoid is an acquired subepidermal blistering disease of the elderly characterized by tense blisters. Patients with bullous pemphigoid have circulating and tissue-bound antibodies that are directed against a normal component of the epidermal basement membrane.

Bullous Pemphigoid, Cicatricial Pemphigoid, and Pemphigoid Gestationis

1998
The term “pemphigoid” applies to several different clinical disorders that share the clinical appearance of blisters, the histologic finding of subepidermal blister, and circulating and skin-bound IgG antibodies against a component of the basement membrane zone (BMZ) (Table 89-1).

Pemphigoid vegetans

British Journal of Dermatology, 1989
A Japanese case of pemphigoid vegetans is described. The clinical, histopathological and immunological features were similar to the previously reported cases. The patient also developed vesicular lesions. Indirect immunoelectronmicroscopy revealed that the autoantibody in this patient's serum reacted with basal cell hemidesmosomes.

Localized pretibial pemphigoid and pemphigoid nodularis

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1992
We describe a 75-year-old woman with a chronic, blistering eruption on the left leg whose clinical and immunopathologic features were consistent with a diagnosis of localized pretibial pemphigoid. After a disease-free interval of 5 years she developed a generalized prurigo nodularis-like eruption.

Bullous pemphigoid

Nature Reviews Disease Primers
Bullous pemphigoid is a chronic, subepidermal autoimmune blistering disease characterized by tense blisters on erythematous or normal skin that predominantly affects the older population. The disease arises from autoantibodies targeting hemidesmosomal proteins BP180 and BP230, which are crucial for dermal-epidermal adhesion.

Pemphigoid nodularis

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1989
A 61-year-old man with prurigo nodularis subsequently developed bullous pemphigoid. Direct immunofluorescence studies of a prurigo nodularis-like lesion and peribullous skin showed the deposition of IgG, IgA, and C3 in a linear pattern at the basement membrane zone.

Vesicular pemphigoid

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1980
The vesicular variant of bullous pemphigoid (BP) is a clinical entity in which the principal types of lesions are multiple small tense vesicles in a symmetric distribution, rather than large, more randomly distributed bullae. We present a patient who developed an intensely pruritic eruption which clinically was suggestive of typical dermatitis ...
